SCRACE ARCHITECTS recognise that good levels of communication are important to provide you with the reassurance you need along your journey. Subject to your level of experience the team are here to walk you hand in hand through the complexities of your building project. The Concept Design stage typically encompasses a Feasibility Study, Options Appraisal and Pre-application.
Following an initial visit, we will summarise our discussions and offer some thoughts and direction in a letter. We find that with a better understanding of your needs, we are able to propose a fair fee for the first stage of work, which normally takes the form of a Feasibility Study.
The Feasibility Study is the first proper stage of brief development and investigation. Working with you, we will establish a list of priorities for your project and begin to draft a strategic brief. After carrying out some check dimensions we usually prepare some sketch layouts to map out ideas and offer inspiration for your project.
To help make a vision more tangible, 3D visualisations, hand-drawn sketches and watercolours are often developed. It’s worth noting that for every drawing/design presented to you there are probably ten developmental sketches/traces that have helped shape it.
Sketch proposals from the Feasibility Study usually suggest a preferred option which is typically investigated further and presented to the local authority for pre-application advice.
At this early stage of investment, we appreciate that an indication of project cost and fees are important. As part of our service, we offer draft cost input which helps us to work with you to balance budget and ambition, so that we can determine the best option to take forward.
