We enjoyed working on this Summer House project, a quirky small project for our clients garden. Our client wanted to a new space in the garden, an additional ‘room’ to their property, that they could use throughout the year. The redundancy of their existing off the shelf shed being insufficient. We worked with them on designs for a fresh new space.
The design draws on the setting. Specifically framing elements and views, from and into, to encapsulate the garden. Rather than demolish the existing structure. It was decided that we should make good and retain. Incorporating natural materials such as timber frame and wood cladding ensures it will blend into its setting.
To reduce the impact of a new building we focused on the recyclability of materials and structure, keen to make the building as sustainable as possible. This resulted in the project being constructed out of 70% recycled materials witht the nouvelle addition of natural sheep’s wool insulation.
