We are excited to share that after a long application process, we have succeeded in securing planning permission for this riverside property in Durrington, near Salisbury. Our brief was to improve the function, layout and visual appearance of the existing bungalow and to expand the working space as a modern family home.
Working with our client and the Local Authority planning team we were able to balance both ambitions and policy to enable this scheme to go forward, ultimately providing our client with the larger property they desired. When realised it will offer them quite a view!
Originally, we looked to realise a grand contemporary gable ended design, maximising the great views out across the river. The elements were reduced in scale to one-and-a-half height so as to mitigate impact. Whilst we felt this was effective we had to review to ensure the space could be realised.
Although a compromise, the approved scheme, which includes the addition of new dormer windows, and improved consistency of materials to create a unified design that still delivers. Which design do you favour? Proposed or approved? We would love to know…
The new design fulfils our client’s ambition to improve the function and appearance of the property, and we have worked to ensure that is sympathetic to neighbouring properties and the local environment. Once completed, the approved scheme will significantly improve the character of the existing property, to create a stylish and sustainable family home.
